Pair of Antique Samurai Warrior Battle Horse 'ABUMI (stirrups)
17-18 century
A pair of Japanese forged lacquered iron ABUMI (horse-stirrups)
in swan-like shape (WA-ABUMI) with buckle to each
terminus and decorated with an unidentified gold samurai family mon
(heraldic emblem) in the center on a black lacquered ground contrasted
with red lacquered foot areas.
The stirrups (abumi) have some cracks, scratches
and chips on the lacquer. Some wear and cracking to the
lacquer as represented on photos might have been incurred
in due to using by the warrior.
Abumi dating from 17-18th century, Edo period.
Measurements : 32 x 28 x 14 cm
