Samurai Warrior Lord's helmet JINGASA with mon and Komainu ( Lion of
Buddha) images
Late Edo period black lacquered war helmet JINGASA in shape
of Bajo Gasa (for riding). Jingasa adorned
with painted images of Komainu mythical creature
(Lion of Buddha) and peony flowers on both sides, and with
silk rope on back and metal engraved knob on the jingasa's
top.
The interior of JINGASA is red with gold specks are scattered on a red bases and it's
show the high social status of an owner.
It Edo period of Japanese history helmet JINGASA became
more popular then more heavy KABUTO helmet.
The function of the JINGASA was still the
same as for KABUTO, but with less accent on
protection against arrow or sword, but from rain and wind,
and to showing the Samurai's social status. It could be
wear for hunting, riding or for police duty.
