Japanese Kimekomi doll of a Young Lady standing with tea
cup in her hands, 1950's
Lovely Japanese antique doll represents young lady dressed
with silk hand painted kimono with irises flowers
on the banks of small brook motif, and silk brocaded obi
belt with fan and flowers motif.. She holds a tea cup for
traditional tea ceremony. Her hairstyle is combed
in Edo style and adorned with silk band, red comb, silk
flowers and bira-bira long hair-pin.
The doll made in kimekomi
technique. 'Kimekomi' means "tuck in" in Japanese.
The doll body is made of compacted paulownia sawdust mixed
with glue. Clothes made of silk and silk brocade fabrics
with traditional Japanese design, and are glued and tucked
into grooves of a doll body. Doll's face covered in a highly
burnished gofun (crashed oyster shell) and hand-painted
artistically and the wig is made of artificial or natural
hair.
Dimensions: 27 cm/ 10,6 inches high
Condition: excellent according to age, with no damage ans
with real antique taste.
