Japanese antique doll of a dancing Maiko with
round red hat and small drum, 1920-30's
Finely modeled and rare
Japanese antique doll of a young lady-dancer
- maiko (apprentice geisha) dressed with wonderful figured silk
upper kimono which is hand embroidered with cherry blossom motif,
white silk under-kimono, and black silk obi belt tied
on her back and embroidered artistically as well.
Maiko's kimono has a padded hem for trailing when she
walks. Girl's intricated hair-style adorned with big round red lacquered
hat and silk ribbon, silver band and long hair-pin. Maiko
has kotsuzumi a double-headed Japanese small hand
drum attached to her costume. She dances with beating the
drum.
This wonderfull doll stands on wooden stand which is covered with red silk.
Highly collectible item of Japanese art from Taisho period.
Dimensions: 37 cm /14,5 inches high
Conditions: excellent according to age and with no
damage and with real antique taste.
