Japanese antique doll of a young Noble Lady with long hair,
1930's
Antique Japanese highly
collectible doll
represents young noble lady from
Kyoto
dressed in orange-gold colored silk brocaded kimono with
jacquard embroidered golden chrysanthemum morif (noble family
symbol) and dark-blue silk crepe upper kimono with flower
and birds of Paradise motif.
Her upper kimono's sleeves are thrown off to reveal figured
silk her other kimono rich design. Ivory colored silk brocade
obi tied in Nagoya's way in one bow.
Doll's face carved of wood and covered in a highly burnished
gofun and hand-painted artistically. And her long black
hair tied up in a bundle on the back of the head and partly
fell down on her shoulders and back. and embellished with
ribbon. This type of a hair style as well as luxurious clothes
show us the high social status of the young lady.
The doll crafted about 1930's in Kanto area.
Dimensions: 37 cm / 14,5 inches high
Condition: excellent according to age with no damage but
with real antique taste.
