Unique Japanese Antique of a young lady doll sitting
with a lacquered writing box, 1900-20's
Absolutely rare and unique wonderfully carved
Japanese antique
doll of late Meiji period represents a young
woman seated on one knee next to a traditional lacquer writing
box. The lady is dressed in a beautiful silk crepe
kimonos and embroidered obi belt which is tied as a big
bow on her back. Her posture is full of grace and a slightly
smile touched her half-open lips and her pearly teeth are
gleamed slightly.
Her intricate hairstyle is adorned with silk cords.
The doll's head and arms are carved from wood and finished
with multi- layered gofun (powder made from crushed oyster
shell).
Dimensions: 22,5 x 36 cm / 8,9 x 14,1 inches)
Condition: The doll is in excellent condition according
to age
