Japanese Emperor and Empress of Heian era, pair dolls in
glass case by Emi Wada, 1970's
Magnificent Japanese dolls represent
Imperial couple with brilliant silk brocaded costume, hair
style and make-up of Heian period of Japanese history
(794-1185).
Long-hair young Empress sitting on floor, dressed in twelve layered
kimono juni hitoe and red hakama
according to Heian era style and she holds a cypress folding
fan in her hand.
The Emperor stands with flute in his hand and dressed in
white silk brocaded jacket kariginu, red silk
kimono and brocaded hakama and high black lacquered court
hat eboshi.
This wonderful dolls are crafted by Emi Wada,
the famous Japanese costume designer and Oscar winner
for best costume design at 1985.
Black wooden stand signed by artist. Big black lacquered
glass-wooden display box comes with
Box dimensions: 55 cm / 21,6" high and 69 cm /27,6" wide
