AS-011 TSUBA, the sword guard of a Japanese katana or tachi 

Japanese tsuba, 19th century.

Skillfully rendered scene depicting blossom plum trees ume and chrysanthemums. Detailed carving with inlaid gold points in the central part of the flowers, partly loosed. Heavy iron with rich, dark patina and desirable, smooth wear overall, a result of age and use.

Appealing round shape - maru gata. Good condition. Dimensions: 7 cm/2,8" D
